tactile fremitus: A vibration felt on a person’s chest during vocalization at low frequency levels.

thiazides: A type of diuretic sometimes used in congestive heart failure treatment.

ventricular assist device (VAD): A mechanical device used to replace the function of a failing heart; can be used for complete or partial replacement.

venous pressure: The blood pressure level in a vein or in the atria of the heart.

ventricular hypertrophy: Increased ventricular mass due to increased stress. Can lead to a deterioration in function. More common in the left ventricle, but may occur in either or both ventricles.

volume overload: Also known as hypervolemia, this is a medical condition where too much fluid is present in the blood.
