pulmonary embolism (PE): A blockage of the pulmonary artery or one of its branches.

pulmonary hypertension (PH): An increase in blood pressure in the pulmonary artery or lung vasculature.

pulmonary valve stenosis: A medical condition in which outflow of blood from the right ventricle of the heart is obstructed at the level of the pulmonic valve. This results in the reduction of flow of blood to the lungs.

right heart failure: See cor pulmonale.

systolic heart failure: Occurs when the left ventricle can't contract vigorously, a pumping problem.
